Missing my baby

Hi! (This is actually Laura posting.) It just hit me earlier that Grace is four weeks old now and will be a month old on the 17th. I want my baby! I have been fairly calm and collected so far but it is getting harder and harder to be patient. I have been waiting to post because I thought we would have more pictures by now. Maybe soon...

Our meeting with Vicki, our awesome social worker, was very encouraging. We met and had dinner and just talked for several hours. It seems that Vicki and I share a love of reading (mysteries) and being crafty (scrapbooking); I enjoyed getting to know her and look forward to developing a relationship with her outside of the adoption. Now I just need to finish finding the remaining paperwork Vicki must have to complete our home study. Why am I not more organized? Yikes!

The problem with this whole waiting experience is that, as a scrapbooker and as an expectant mommy, I can't help constantly thinking of what I am missing out on by being separated from Grace. How big is she now? I would love to have prints of her handprints and footprints each week to monitor her growth but am trying to be realistic. Who is going to record her firsts for me? I don't want to seem demanding. It would just help soothe this ache to know that these first several months of Gracie's life won't be a total blank for us. I want something tangible. Hopefully she will still be relatively small when we get her so I can feel like I didn't miss out on all of the important stuff.

Okay, I'll quit whining. Hee, hee. On a side note my pals from work, Pam and Stefanie, helped me start tearing the wallpaper off the nursery walls. We got one whole wall done in about 2-3 hours using mom's steamer. There is something theraputic about ripping wallpaper off. Just have one more wall to do and then we can get the room ready for painting. We are going to paint the room a sky blue and Seth is going to paint a mural of Noah's ark on one wall. I don't want to go overboard on the Noah's ark theme, just a few items here and there. I want the room to still be girly. I was thinking of making fuschia (bright hot pink) Roman shades for the room or some variation of that for some girly color. It's fun thinking of the possibilities!

Well, we have been fingerprinted, approved by some family safety place (both have no records--whew!), so we have made relatively good progress for such a short time. At least I think so. Hope so. That's about all for now. We are having fun thinking about next Christmas. It's gonna be a lot more exciting with Gracie around!! Yippee!! Come to mama, baby!!

Love you all~

First pictures of Grace

Here she is! Isn't she beautiful?

We hope you all are as excited to see Grace as we are. We thought we would make this blog to easily keep everyone informed of our progress in getting little Gracie. (You might want to bookmark this page!)

We found out we were getting her on Thanksgiving, which was very fitting! She was born on November 17 and weighed approx. 6 lbs. As you can see, she already has a lot of beautiful black hair!

We won't be able to go get her from Taiwan for a few months, but we know she is being well taken care of at the Home of God's Love. We are beginning the real paperwork, and are set to meet with a social worker Tuesday for our initial home study visit.

We wish we could just "skip to the end" and have her with us right now. But for now, these pictures will have to do (click on them for a larger view!)

Feel free to leave comments! We'd love to hear from you all.
